Saturday evening saw the museum’s 1941 GMC pumper, originally from Napanee, featured in Cobourg’s Santa Claus parade. The curbs on the 2 km route along King St were packed with people welcoming Santa on a perfect evening. Old ’41, was near the front and decked out in decorations, retrieved by Will (this is a museum after all) that echoed the splendour of Christmases past. She received lots of attention as she was ably piloted by directors John and Rob. Kids along the way were happy to discover that the antique fire pails carried by walkers Corrinne and Dennis contained not water or sand but candy treats for the occasion.
